Morgan Cryar: A Voice That Defined Christian Rock

Louisiana-born Morgan Cryar is widely known for his thoughtful songwriting and strong melodies, making him a standout artist in the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) scene. His 1984 debut album, Keep No Secrets, introduced him to Christian radio, but it was 1986’s Fuel on the Fire that made him a household name.

With anthemic rock hooks, bold lyrics, and high-energy production, Fuel on the Fire fit right alongside the biggest names in Christian rock—artists like Petra, DeGarmo & Key, and White Heart. Its lead single, "Pray in the U.S.A.," became a cultural moment, mirroring Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. while delivering a message of faith and national prayer. The song even earned a Dove Award nomination for Best Video.

Following the album’s success, Cryar toured extensively, sharing stages with Petra, DeGarmo & Key, and other CCM legends, performing in front of thousands of passionate Christian rock fans.
